Saturday, August 9th
Today Dave walked 40 feet! We also went outside for a few minutes. He had one session of PT today and will have a session of OT later. We received the results from the CT scan and everything looks about the same. Please continue to pray for the hiccups, they seem to be getting a little better. Dave only had 2 breathing episodes last night and he hasn't had any yet today! Dave had a lime slush from Sonic and a chicken strip for lunch. He really enjoyed the lime slush, but still doesn't have too much of an appetite. Thank you for your continued prayers.

Mmm Lime. Good choice! Glad to hear of the great news. We continue to pray for the Lord's hand to be on you all and that He will be honored with the results. We love you all very much and are so excited of what God is doing thus far.

You are amazing! Go Dave! We are so excited now to check the blog each day for the opportunity to rejoice with you! God is so good. Love you, Larry and Barb
These "small things" are SUCH big things!!! It takes much time to get over the infection...so don't loose hope! My Dad came HOME Friday!!! After 4 months...he is now strong enough to be home! God is so good!
A couple of thoughts here. The nurse in me just can't let it go b/c I understand your concerns!
1. Is Dave still receiving TPN? If so...that satisfies the hunger and it's hard to get patients to eat when they are receiving it. (But necessary when they need it!) They must monitor his albumin when he's receiving that b/c that also drops and THAT is what helps our bodies HEAL. Albumin takes a LONG time to come back to normal after malnutrition...like months...so be very patient as his appetite increases. This is raised by eating protein rich foods. They CAN give albumin in a bag (IV), but it's very short acting and needs to be taken in with protein foods as tolerated. When they discontinued TPN on Dad (after 6 weeks on it) they gave him Marinol, an appetite stimulant, which really helped. Getting off that was no problem for him.
2. Being up and around will help his body absorb fluid that may be in the wrong spaces...so we will continue to pray for that to occur as he moves around even more.
I hope this bit of info helps!
Priase God we are thrilled to here the good new's. Keep fighting Dave , we will pray for your body and spirt. The Kinney's
