Overall, Dave is doing fairly well. His vitals are good, but his temperature is 101. His pain is about the same. Dave's white blood count is 9,500! Today is Dave's 5th day of dialysis, he is also receiving one unit of blood. The doctors are puzzled as to why Dave is in need of dialysis daily. Typically, a patient is on dialysis two days and then off one. They ran some additional tests and we should have the results tomorrow. Dave's oxygen levels are indicating he is in need of a breathing machine. Dave will be on the machine two out of every six hours. Because the doctors still can't find an infection and Dave is still running a temperature, the doctors are going to move his port to another site this afternoon. Please pray that this procedure goes well.
Please pray for Dave. This afternoon the doctors were trying to eliminate possible sources of infection, so they took out a drainage tube that wasn't draining. Apparently Dave was bleeding internally prior to the removal of the tube but the tube was clogged, and therefore not draining. When they removed the tube, Dave started bleeding externally from this site. They ran tests at 7:15pm. We should have the results by 8:00pm. The doctors will then decide the best way to proceed.
Evening update: Mom and I just talked to Dr Stothert. He said that he did see one spot, possibly blood, by the left kidney on the CT scan. The doctors are going to continue to monitor Dave's blood counts, giving him more blood if necessary. Dr Stothert said that hopefully this will heal on its own and will not require surgery. He also said that everything else on the CT scan looks the same or better! Dave has started his two hour ventilatory support and will be done around 11pm.

Thanks so much for the up dates. We check the blog often for news on Daves recovery. Our hearts are with you everyday because we know of the struggle your all going through. Stay strong in the Lord even when things aren't going as well as you'd like. Isaiah 40-31 means.."I will hold you up and keep you strong". How awesome is our God, even in times of trouble.

"Be still and know that I am God ..." Psalm 46:10 ... so powerful.
Know that I'm with you in spirit and in prayer; for Dave's complete healing, for wisdom for the medical staff, for strength and wisdom beyond yourselves, for "peace that passes understanding". Our God is faithful in all things. Praise God that Dave and his family cling to that truth. Love to all - Nick
Dave, Diane, and EACH family member,
We join others in appreciation of this blog site; it is a welcome connection to you and your family and a useful tool to specific prayer concerns. We were troubled to hear the news about your accident the morning after it happened and we have petitioned the Lord on your behalf more then daily. From reading the comments to the blog, it is evident you have touched hundreds and hundreds of people’s lives outside of your family through church, work, and play. It is also clear there are that many known people praying for you and an abundance more because we know there are entire churches praying for you in and out of Nebraska; containing people who have never had the opportunity to meet you.
Jesus is on your side, praying for all of you. As you hurt, family and friends hurt and in turn, Jesus does too. When you cry because of discouragement, family and friends cry with you and in turn, Jesus does too. As you cry from joyful news/progress, family and friends do also and, yes, Jesus does too.
Do not loose heart, keep fighting. We know a young man who was told he would never walk again after enduring an accident twelve years ago but he fought hard, kept his faith and looked for a miracle; tonight we witnessed that miracle as he married his best friend.
Again, do not loose heart, keep fighting; we will remain steadfast in prayer with all the other prayer warriors out there………requesting and looking for your miracle.
God Bless, Gary and Joyce
